danced into existence and has been sharing her love of dance before she could walk. Beginning her dance training at age 2, Memphis became her stomping grounds for spreading her passion for dance. She has studied and trained with The Dance Academy of Bartlett, Ballet Memphis, and Columbia College Chicago. Katie was a dance major at The University of Alabama, under the direction of Cornelius Carter and Rita Snyder, and has studied with Anna Marie Forsythe at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, learning Horton technique pedagogy. She is currently an intern with Ballet Memphis Community Outreach Programs, and teaches dance at Germantown Performing Arts Center and Playhouse on the Square. She has studied ballet, modern, jazz, musical theater, pointe, tap, contemporary, hip hop, aerial arts, belly dancing, and ballroom. She is also a fire dancer, hula hooper, painter, musician, composer, and singer. Dancing is the core language of her heart; she uses dance as a way to flow through her fears, emotions, shadows, tears, and joys of life, without inhibition. When Katie isn’t dancing, you can find her singing and playing her harp.
